Junior Program

The Wind Lake Volunteer Fire Company currently runs it's own junior program for youth interested in a career in firefighting and emergency medical services.

Cadets must:

• Complete a membership application and have their parent/legal guardian complete the authorization form.

• 16-17 years old.

• Follow set department and cadet specific policies.

Cadets will participate in activities and learn about key concepts such as:

• Firehouse Functions

• Emergency Calls(On hold due to COVID-19)

• Fire Behavior, Firefighting, Ground Ladders, and Self Contained Breathing Apparatus

• Communication

• Ropes & Knots

• Vehicle Extrication & Rescue

• Firefighter Survival

• First Aid & CPR

Additionally, eligible cadets can choose to be sponsored by the department for Firefighter 1 & Emergency Medical Technician.
